I have edited this review a few times. After a few years, I have come to the conclusion that this is a really good product. I’m leaving the review intact because it kind of shows the evolution and the learning curve that exists with this product.
A couple of years have gone by, and I am finding myself using this more and more. Over time, I have gotten better at making a good cup of coffee with it. In fact, I got to the point where I was using this more than any of my other machines. Now, I have gotten to the point where a cup of coffee made with this is nearly as good or possibly even just as good as one that I French press. A big bonus for a lot of folks is that there is no sediment on the bottom of my cup.
So, yes. I have gradually moved on and decided that this is an excellent product. I’ve increased my star total to 5 because it deserves it. The learning curve is difficult, but the eventual results are quite good.

Let me start by saying this thing is absolutely amazing. I was looking for a compact way to brew my own coffee or espresso at work. I did some research and kept hearing people talk about the AeroPress. I popped over to Amazon and couldn’t believe how highly this thing was rated. I must say, I completely understand the hype.
This is my second aeropress and I love it (The first one is 6 or 7 yrs old and still in perfect condition, but I left it behind at a friend’s house and wasn’t willing to go several months without it). There are lots of different ways to use it and I’ve probably tried all of them. It’s by far my favorite coffee brewing method. I bought the Fellow filter to keep coffee from dripping out before I was ready to plunge. But with or without that, it’s very easy to use and clean, reliable, and makes great coffee. It’s not espresso, but you can get an extremely tasty “shot” with it all the same.
I bought this a few years ago. No problem with the rubber plunger. I rinse the parts immediately after using so maybe that has helped.
I have to make coffee using the inverted method. There is no way that normally ground coffee will steep long enough using the normal method to produce a good cup of coffee.
I have tried several French presses and they require far more work to make a cup than does the aero press. It’s good for only one cup at a time but if that is all you need it is unbeatable.
