No, it can’t be submerged in water. The best way to reduce scale buildup overtime is to add a solution of water and 30% white vinegar until the kettle is full, leave it to soak while off for about an hour, then empty and wipe down with a cloth or paper towel.

I really like this little water kettle. I use it in my converted shuttle bus for coffee and tea. It’s the perfect size for 2 people, and the temperature control is really handy for my husband when he’s making fancy aeropress coffee. It folds up super small for storage, and has survived daily use for about 4 months now without a single leak or problem.
The only thing I don’t like about it is how tight the cord plugs into the body. The cord is too short to keep attached while pouring, and I prefer to unplug the kettle from the cord so the cord won’t accidentally knock over other things in my small space. However, the plug is incredible tight in the kettle. I’m sure it’s a safety feature in case water spills out onto the cord connection. I feel like a version with a separate base might make this easier to use, even if it takes up slightly more space.3 people found this helpful

So if you find yourseld having to eat dehydrated camping food like mountain house, etc because you are camping, in the car, extreme weather, bugging out, etc…..are you really gonna stop and build a fire every time?? What if you dont want to give away your position? What if there is a burn ban? Whqt if it is raining? What if your stove is out of fuel? Well here is the perfect answer!! The quality of this one is better than the cheaper ones by far! The lid even stays on when you pour and it pours beautifully!!!
It takes a bit over 600 watts which is a couple hundred watts less than the competition so your power station needs to be able to handle it. The ecoflow river 600 watt units and the new bluetti eb3a both have a feature that lets them run higher watt loads. I tested it with the bluetti eb3a on “power lifting” mode….it used 30% of the tiny battery to boil 2.5 cups of water….so maybe 80 watt hours total?? It is fast and easy! Charge your power supply with solar and use it to cook…for free!!! It is fast too!

This kettle does everything it says it will do. Does it well. But this thing has the potential to burn the heck out of you! If you put too much water- it will spurt out and potentially burn you- there are no water marks for filling. If you try to pull the cord out after boiling- you might spill hot water on you- so don’t pull the cord. Bring your cup to the pot instead.
Next- if you try to put the lid back on- the darn thing will collapse on you and spill hot water everywhere. Treat this thing with a lot of respect. Do not have around children. I will keep it and use it- but please practice with it and take your time.

I used this to make coffee and for dehydrated meals while traveling. It only took a few minutes to make the water more than hot enough for coffee. It’s a nice thing to have for traveling when I don’t have electricity and can’t set up a camp stove.
